Purple Lady Poetry

Give me courage to climb out of bed, put on my face
And do those things that must be done
People must see that I live and thrive.
Allow me to think of those I have lost
And know they travel with me; their spirit still alive.

Give me the courage to turn on the TV to view the World and all its woes.
Make me look and have enough anger to help the change that must come.
Help me to believe, really believe, that people will not starve or succumb to disease,
That leaders will go down with an attack of reason and see that war is not the way.
That it’s never the way and violence must cease.

Give me the courage to face those blind and deaf
Through fear, wilful ignorance and crass propaganda..
Allow me to plant flowers this Spring
And know they will bloom; our planet with them.
My tears will water seeds of hope and the World will sing..

Give me the courage to know those around me
Love me for who I am and not who I wish to be.
Allow me to see truth beyond self doubt and know that I have value.
Let my anger at fools not permeate through to those I love.
We all must stand or fall in this year that is new.
