Losing Our Way

Distance and direction drew us apart and
Somewhere on that path I lost you.
Time slipped; told another story and
Mists obscured the view.

From birth to death body changes form.
From beginning to end we are not the same.
Can minds retain memory of who we were?
That being so, who can we really blame?

Our children are still playing and our music carries on.
Memory has such power so we can recreate our past.
The universe cannot forget the molecule that was or
Those times when we were young, the times we thought would last.
